GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR: ROME SEES UNCHANGED ALL-TIME LOW UNEMPLOYMENT RATE

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Rome recorded an unchanged all-time low unemployment rate of 2.4 percent. A year ago, the rate was 4.6 percent.

“We are continuing to see all-time low unemployment rates across the state along with job growth in all of our statistical areas,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “The focus now is getting more Georgians into the workforce to fill these critical positions, particularly as we gear up for a strong holiday employment season.”

The labor force increased in Rome by 275 and ended the month with 43,893. That number is up 253 when compared to October of 2020.

Rome finished the month with 42,842 employed residents. That number increased by 291 over the month and is up by1,208 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Rome ended October with 41,500 jobs. That number increased by 600 from September to October and increased by 1,200 when compared to this time last year.

The number of unemployment claims went down by 28 percent in Rome in October. When compared to last October, claims were down by about 88 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 519 active job postings in Rome for October.
