The newly formed Homelessness Task Force 2019 will hold its first meeting today at 9:30 am in the Carnegie Training Room in downtown Rome.
Public input regarding urban camping and panhandling will be sought at the meeting. Ordinances on these matters were discussed recently by the Rome City Commission and were sent back to the Public Safety Commitee for their further review.
Rome City Commissioner Wendy Davis says she hopes that efforts will made to support existing programs and bring together public and private partners to solve issues pertaining to homelessness in the community.
The task force is comprised of those who lead organizations which work with the homeless in the community, as well as business leaders and city officials.
