NUMBER OF CONFIRMED CORONAVIRUS CASES SURPASSES THE ONE MILLION MARK IN GEORGIA

A total of 4,257 new cases of coronavirus and 24 more virus-related fatalities were reported across Georgia on Tuesday by the state’s Department of Public Health. The state has now surpassed the one million mark in confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 1,000,872 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia since March 2020. The state’s death toll stands at 19,044. Floyd County has had a total of 10,837 confirmed cases and 202 deaths. Gwinnett County led the state in number of confirmed cases with 93,187. Fulton County has reported the most fatalities with 1,392.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Tuesday, 9,217,137 vaccines have been administered across the state; 49 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the vaccine, while 42 percent have been fully vaccinated. Here in Floyd County, 38 percent of residents have had at least a dose, while 34 percent have been fully vaccinated.
