Governor Brian Kemp announced plans Thursday to expand the list of those eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine, effective March 8th. The list will then include Pre-K and K-12 public and private school teachers and faculty as well as Department of Early Care and Learning educators and staff, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (and their caregivers), and parents of children with complex medical conditions. If all goes well, Kemp anticipates that vaccination criteria will be expanded to include people with underlying health conditions not currently eligible to receive the vaccine as seniors age 65 and older.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the State Capitol in Atlanta, for which Kemp was joined by the Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey and by Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Stallings. It may be viewed on the Governor’s website at www.gov.georgia.gov and on Facebook.
