CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Just 1,726 new cases of COVID-19 and four more virus-related deaths were reported on Sunday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 790,779 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 13,964. In Floyd County, there were 8,989 confirmed cases and 150 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 77,889, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 985.

The full COVID-19 Daily Status Report is posted on the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website, www.dph.georgia.gov. The website also features a vaccine dashboard and a vaccine locator. As of the latest report at 5:48 pm on Sunday evening, 1,446,647 vaccines had been administered statewide.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District has announced that the free COVID-19 testing site in Floyd County at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, located at 1400 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Rome, will be open on Wednesday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
