BRAVES FALL TO NATIONALS IN MIDDLE OUTING OF A THREE-GAME NL EAST SET AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Washington Nationals 8-5 on Tuesday evening in the middle outing of a three-game NL East set at Truist Park, which evened that series at 1-1.

Offensive highlights for the Braves included a two-run single by Austin Riley in the bottom of the third inning and a two-run homer from Freddie Freeman which gave Atlanta a 5-2 lead in the fourth.

But Washington came charging back with four runs in the top of the fifth and continued to jump on the Braves’ bullpen for one more run each in the eighth and the ninth to win it, again, by a final score of 8-5.

The Braves will wrap up their series with the Nationals tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.

In other Braves news, Nick Markakis has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to possible exposure to the coronavirus. He has been replaced on the active roster by top prospect Cristian Pache.
