The Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism is encouraging all Romans (as well as visitors to Rome) to take advantage of outdoor attractions in this community. Kristi Kent, Director of Communications, recommends the Mount Berry Trail that recently opened near the US post office. She attests that this 1.8 mile trail offers some great views of Rome’s rolling hills and rivers.
Local trails are walker and biker friendly, asserts Kent, who adds that floating and paddleboarding on the river also top the list of popular outdoor activities. Additional details about local outdoor adventures are featured on the tourism office’s website at www.romegeorgia.org.
If you like to play tennis, Kent urges you to download the Kourts Player App to book courts and register for programs offered at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College and the downtown tennis center. The app allows users to limit in-person contact amid these days of coronavirus.
The downtown courts also offer a program called Tennis Anytime; for a cost of $24 a year, players can purchase a fob for entry to the courts – anytime, of course!
Kent also encourages locals and visitors to learn about Rome’s rich history at the Rome Area History Center. It is now open to the public every Wednesday and Saturday. Admission is free, although tickets must be obtained online in advance at www.romeareahistorycenter.org. Measures are in place to prevent potential spread of coronavirus.
Only six visitors are permitted inside the center at a time in order to allow for social distancing. All visitors are required to wear face masks.
