LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS SHARING EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES – VIRTUALLY – IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS

A pair of local organizations are sharing educational activities virtually with the public in this time of coronavirus.

The Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home has announced a new learning initiative offered online that are intended to fulfill the museum’s mission to preserve and interpret the history of the 19th century Cherokee history via the life, home and property of the Ridge family. Online activities will be posted at www.chieftainsmuseum.org twice each week and will feature a variety of craft and learning activities for students and families. Click on the museum’s Events tab to find those activities. This program kicked off this past Tuesday with coloring sheets that were originally created by Bob Harris which depict the Chieftains house in both 1819 and 1828. The public is urged to share all finished sheets to Facebook and Instagram; be sure to tag the museum! These online activities are free to download.
The Coosa River Basin Initiative has expressed their commitment to sharing daily educational activities and films to help local families to make it through these unprecedented times. These offerings are posted on the CRBI’s website at www.coosa.org, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
