Floyd County Schools (FCS) is excited to announce the appointment of Judson Cox as the new principal of Pepperell High School (PHS), effective June 1.
Cox was chosen for his leadership qualities, commitment to student success, and passion for strengthening the academic and extracurricular experiences at Pepperell.
Cox, a longtime member of the Floyd County Schools community, brings over 22 years of educational experience to the role, including eight years in administrative leadership (four as an assistant principal and four as a principal) and seven years as a teacher and coach at PHS.
As a former Dragon educator and a proud parent of Pepperell graduates, his deep connections to the community and his appreciation of the school’s unique values were pivotal in his selection. Additionally, his dedication to academic excellence and his commitment to engaging with students, faculty, and families make him an ideal fit to lead Pepperell High School.
“I am honored to serve as the principal of Pepperell High School, a community that has meant so much to me throughout my career,” said Judson Cox. “I am excited for the opportunity to be back in Lindale, and I look forward to building on the strong traditions of excellence and tradition here. I am committed to continuing to foster an environment where every student feels supported and has the opportunity to succeed, contributing to a positive high school experience for all.”
Pepperell High School is known for its outstanding academic programs, successful extracurriculars, traditions, and active involvement in the local community. Under Cox’s leadership, the school will continue to build on its strong academic performance while also embracing innovation and collaboration.

With the transition of Cox to PHS, there is now a vacancy for the principal role at Coosa High School. Floyd County Schools is actively seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill this position and continue the strong leadership at Coosa High School.
