The Rome Little Theatre will present “Mary Poppins” over the next couple of weekends at the DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad Street in downtown Rome. Show times are set for 7:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Maegan Williams, who plays the title role, says that this musical based on the 1964 Disney film tells the tale of a nanny that teaches a family what it means to really come together.
Here’s the description of the show from the Rome Little Theatre:
Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures and even the grown-ups learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”
