WANT TO GIVE THANKS BY GIVING BACK? HERE ARE SOME OPPORTUNITIES!

As we head into the weekend before Thanksgiving, many people want to give thanks by giving back. There will be opportunities to do that in the coming days.

The public is invited to join the Rome Noon Optimist Club as they ‘Flip for Youth’ at their 64th annual Pancake Breakfast set for this Saturday from 6 am until 11 am at the Rome Civic Center.

This is the club’s major fundraising event of the year, states Daniel Bosarge, Chair of the Pancake Breakfast. Proceeds will benefit youth-related projects in the community. The fundraising goal for 2024 is $63,000.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $8 each from any club member and at the Rome Welcome Center (in front of the Rome Civic Center) or for $9 at the door on the day of the breakfast. Sausage may be purchased in one pound packets for $6.

Dine-in, take-out, and drive-thru options will be available to attendees of the event.

For more information about the 64th annual Pancake Breakfast, search for the Noon Optimist Club of Rome on Facebook.

The club marks its 76th year of providing continuous service to the youth of Rome and Floyd County.

Volunteers and donations are still sought for the 37th annual Thanksgiving Love Feast. The traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be served to those in need at the Rome Civic Center on Thursday, November 28th from 11 am until 2 pm (or until the food runs out).

Continuing this holiday tradition requires a lot of hard work, volunteers, and donations, according to Reverend Terrell Shields, Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Rome and Floyd County.

Those interested in serving as a volunteer should call (706) 291-2091 to find out when they are most needed. Time slots are from 9 am until 11 am, 11 am until 1 pm, and 1 pm until 3 pm.

To donate money, send your check payable to “Thanksgiving Love Feast” to P.O. Box 161, Rome, Georgia 30161. Contributions may also be made by using the Cash app at $Lovefeast1987.

Donations of warm winter coats and jackets are also sought for distribution to those in need at the Thanksgiving Love Feast. They may be taken over to the Civic Center on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving from 6 pm to 8 pm, says Shields, who also welcomes the donation of desserts at that time.
