From Floyd County Emergency Management:
Windy conditions are expected to continue through today, as several agencies have already been responding to reports of trees and power lines down. Some parts of Floyd County received 5 inches of rain between late Monday and Tuesday, while here in Rome the Floyd EMA office documented 4.5 inches.
The National Weather Service has reported that sustained winds should be expected between 12-15 mph with gusts as high as 32 mph on Thursday. It is reasonable to expect that there will likely be an increase in trees falling and pulling down power lines, potentially blocking roads or cutting power in areas.
These conditions will remain with us into Friday and Saturday as the windchill will drop into the low 30s. The actual temperature is not expected to drop below 36 degrees.
