The Atlanta Braves’ run in the 2024 MLB postseason ended Wednesday night with a loss out in San Diego, CA to the Padres by 5-4 in Game Two of their National League Wild Card Series. San Diego swept the series.
Marcell Ozuna drove in a run for the Braves with a sac fly during the top of the first inning. The Padres scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Kyle Higashioka, a two-run double by Manny Machado, and a two-run triple from Jackson Merrill. Jorge Soler hit a home run to lead off the top of the fifth for the Braves, who came within a run of the Padres on a two-run homer by Michael Harris II during the eighth.
Max Fried was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five runs and eight hits, walking none, and striking out two in just two innings. Bryan Hoenig was credited with the win and Robert Suarez picked up the save for San Diego.
