ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN LAST ROAD TRIP OF 2024 REGULAR SEASON WITH LOSS IN CINCINNATI, OH TO REDS

The Atlanta Braves opened their last road trip of the 2024 regular season with a loss to the Cincinnati Reds by 6-5 on Tuesday evening in the first outing of a three-game National League set at Cincinnati, OH. That was Atlanta’s third straight loss.

The Braves scored three runs in the top of the first inning on a lead-off homer from Michael Harris II and a two-run shot by Matt Olson. The Reds got on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single from Tyler Stephenson. Ramon Laureano had an RBI single in the second for the Braves, who increased their lead to 5-1 with a solo home run by Jorge Soler in the fourth.

The Reds tallied another run in the bottom of that inning on a sac fly by Jake Fraley. They scored two more on an RBI double by Noelvi Marte in the sixth and took the lead on a two-run homer by Spencer Steer in the seventh.

Pierce Johnson was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Brent Suter picked up the win and Alexis Diaz got the save for Cincinnati.

The Braves are now 81-70 on the 2024 regular season and have dropped to two games behind the New York Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot in the 2024 MLB postseason.
