Hospitality House for Women invites members of the community to save the date for special events that have been planned for this October to mark the observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Here are the details on those events from the local nonprofit:
Thursday, October 3 – 1 in 3 It Could Be Me Awareness Day
Stand for awareness at the beginning of the month. Individuals, groups, organizations, and work teams are encouraged to wear purple and a “1 in 3” sticker. To ensure a sticker, click here.
Friday, October 18 – 17th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
This will be Hospitality House’s 17th annual fundraising and awareness campaign. At Walk a Mile, community members are invited to walk down Broad Street in women’s shoes in order to shed light on the notion that you can never understand a person’s situation until you’ve walked in their shoes. Grand Marshal Challengers will face off in their fundraising competition.
Caroline Groce, Prevention and Outreach Coordinator for Hospitality House, says that her organization looks forward to raising awareness and support for domestic violence survivors during Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October.
Hospitality House for Women has been advocating, supporting and empowering domestic violence survivors in Rome/Floyd County for 46 years. For additional information, visit www.hospitalityhouseforwomen.org or search for the organization on social media.
