The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 in the second meeting of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park on Wednesday night. That evened the series at a game each.
The Braves struck first with a two-run homer by Orlando Arcia in the bottom of the fourth inning. However, the Phillies tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI groundout by Kyle Schwarber and a sac fly by Trea Turner. They took the lead in the eighth on a pinch-hit sac fly by Brandon Marsh.
Joe Jimenez was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Matt Strahm was credited with the win and Carlos Estevez picked up the save for Philadelphia.
The Braves are 67-59 on the 2024 season and in second place of the NL East, now seven games behind the division-leading Phillies. The teams will meet in their series finale tonight.
