The Atlanta Braves were blanked by the Milwaukee Brewers by a final score of 10-0 on Tuesday evening in the first meeting of a three-game set at Truist Park. That was the second consecutive shutout loss for the Braves, who have dropped their last three straight games.
The Brewers scored three runs in the top of the first inning with an RBI triple by (former Brave) William Contreras and a two run homer by Willy Adames. They notched another in the second on an RBI single by Joey Ortiz. Adames hit another two-run homer during the third. Brice Turang had an RBI single in the fourth that made it 7-0 in favor of Milwaukee. Contreras drove in three more runs with RBI doubles in the sixth and eighth.
Bryce Elder was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up seven runs and eight hits, walking two, and striking out six over just three and two-third innings of work. Colin Rea picked up the win for Milwaukee.
The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 60-52, and the Brewers lead the NL Central at 63-49. The teams will meet again tonight at Truist Park. Atlanta’s current seven-game homestand will conclude with the series finale versus Milwaukee on Thursday. The Braves will then head out west for the next 10 games, starting with a three-game set in Colorado against the Rockies this weekend.
