The Atlanta Braves wrapped up the month of July and a seven-game road trip with a 6-2 win in Milwaukee over the Brewers on Wednesday afternoon. The Braves took that series 2-1 and went 4-3 on their road trip.
The Brewers jumped on the board first with a pair of runs during the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single by Gary Sanchez and a sac fly by Blake Perkins. The Braves tied the game at 2-2 with back-to-back home runs from Matt Olson and Travis d’Arnaud in the top of the fourth.
Austin Riley hit an RBI single which drove in a pair of unearned runs to give the Braves a 4-2 lead during the seventh. Olson clubbed his second home run of the day to begin the top of the eighth. That was followed by another home run from d’Arnaud, marking the second time that Olson and d’Arnaud went back-to-back in Wednesday’s game.
Pierce Johnson was credited with the win in relief for Atlanta. Jared Koenig was charged with the loss for Milwaukee.
The Braves improved to 58-49 on the ’24 season and remain in second place of the National League East. They will host the last place Miami Marlins in a four-game set tonight through Sunday. The first pitch of this evening’s series opener is slated for 7:20 pm at Truist Park. Atlanta’s upcoming homestand will feature three games against Milwaukee next Tuesday through Thursday.
