The Atlanta Braves fell to the Cincinnati Reds by 4-1 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game set at Truist Park. That was the third straight loss for Atlanta and the end of a four-game losing streak for Cincinnati.
The Reds posted a run in the top of the first inning on a sac fly from Jeimer Candelario. They scored two more in the third on a solo home run from Will Benson and an RBI double from Candelario, then another in the fifth on a sac fly by Jonathan India. The Braves notched their lone run of the evening on a sac fly by Eddie Rosario in the bottom of the ninth.
Reynaldo Lopez was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering four runs and seven hits, walking two, and striking out five in six innings. Hunter Greene was credited with the win for Cincinnati.
The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 54-45 on the 2024 season. The Reds are in last place of the NL Central at 48-53. Prior to Monday night’s game, the Braves unveiled the official logo for the ’25 All-Star Game.
And an update on Ozzie Albies – he was placed on the injured list Monday due to a left wrist fracture sustained in Sunday’s game. He is anticipated to miss approximately eight weeks.
