ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES OPENER TO SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS; ATLANTA WILL CONTINUE SET VS. SAN FRAN THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT, THEN HOST PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES OVER THE WEEKEND

The Atlanta Braves fell to the San Francisco Giants by 5-3 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game set at Truist Park. That was the second straight loss for Atlanta.

Austin Riley got the Braves on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. That was followed by a homer from Sean Murphy.

However, the Giants tied the game at 2-2 with home runs by Jorge Soler and LaMonte Wade Jr. to lead off the top of the fifth. They took advantage of an error by Austin Riley to take the lead in the sixth and added another run on a sac fly by Nick Ahmed in the top of the eighth. The Braves notched a run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from Ozzie Albies. The Giants scored another run on a homer by Heliot Ramos in the ninth and proceeded to win the game, again, by a final score of 5-3.

Dylan Lee was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Hayden Birdsong got the win, while Camilo Doval picked up the save for San Francisco.

The Braves will face the Giants again tonight at 7:20 pm. Listen to play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 6:05 pm.

The Braves will continue their series versus the Giants through this Thursday night, then welcome the Philadelphia Phillies to Truist Park for a three-game set over the weekend.
