Looking for ways to beat the heat this Summer? State parks offer beaches, pools, and even caving, enthuses Kim Hatcher, Public Affairs Coordinator for Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites. She recommends going for a swim at a lake beach at Red Top Mountain or Fort Mountain, or a taking a dip in the Liberty Bell Swimming Pool at FDR.
Caving at Cloudland Canyon is another great way to beat the Summer heat, says Hatcher. The temperatures inside the cave range from 56 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.
Hatcher expects a busy 4th of July for parks statewide. And if reservations are already booked at the park of your choice for this year, she suggests that you go ahead and make reservations for next year.
