ATLANTA BRAVES TAKE FINALE AND SERIES IN NEW YORK VERSUS YANKEES, ONWARD TO ST. LOUIS FOR SERIES VERSUS CARDINALS

The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Yankees by 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. It allowed Atlanta to take the weekend series by two games to one.

The Braves struck first with a solo home run by Jarred Kelenic during the top of the third inning. Kelenic drove in another run with a sac fly in the fifth.

Ozzie Albies also contributed an RBI single during that inning. The Yankees scored their lone run of the day on an RBI double from Anthony Volpe in the bottom of the sixth.

Max Fried picked up the win for Atlanta after surrendering just one run and six hits, walking none, and striking out four over six innings. Raisel Iglesias got the save. Nestor Cortes was charged with the loss for New York.

The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 43-32 for the 2024 regular season. They will continue their current seven-game road trip tonight with the first of three outings in St. Louis, MO against the Cardinals. The first pitch is slated for 7:45 pm Eastern.
