FLOYD EMA URGES LOCALS TO BEAT THE HEAT THIS SUMMER

It looks like this Summer will be another scorcher, attests Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency. He urges the public to remain vigilant against heat related illnesses and injuries, like heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Of those, heat strokes are the most serious and require immediate medical attention.

Individuals can beat the Summer heat by limiting outdoor activities to early morning or late in the evening and drinking plenty of water, says Herrington, who also encourages everyone to help outdoor pets beat the heat by providing ample water and shade.

Herrington adds that Floyd County residents may get more weather-related safety tips for the Summer from the EMA mobile app, which is available free of charge via the Apple App Store and Google Play.
