AMERICAN RED CROSS OF NORTHWEST GEORGIA TO HOST FIRST EVER DINE FOR DISASTER RELIEF WITH LOCAL RESTAURANTS

(Media release from American Red Cross, Georgia Region):

On Tuesday, June 4 and Thursday, June 6, 2024, local restaurants in Calhoun, Cartersville, Dalton and Rome, will take part in the first Dine for Disaster Relief event for the American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia. Participating restaurants will donate a portion of their sales to the Northwest Georgia Chapter. Proceeds will be used to help the Red Cross provide disaster relief assistance to members of this community and communities nearby.

“We want to thank our community partners and participating restaurants who are helping to raise money for the Red Cross of Northwest Georgia. By dining out, people will be helping neighbors and others in their area whether they are impacted by a home fire, severe weather or another type of disaster,” said Carla Maton, Executive Director of the Northwest Georgia Chapter of the Red Cross.

The Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters a year, the vast majority of these are home fires. For disasters big and small, volunteers and staff provide comfort for what can be the worst days of people’s lives, providing shelter, recovery assistance, hot meals and comfort kits.

The Red Cross of Northwest Georgia serves 15 counties with a population of approximately 800,000 people. The chapter is hard at work in the community bringing help and hope to neighbors in need in Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Polk, Walker, Whitfield, and Union Counties.
