ATLANTA BRAVES LOSE SUNDAY NIGHT GAME AT HOME TO SAN DIEGO PADRES, TEAMS TO PLAY DAY-NIGHT TWIN BILL TODAY

The Atlanta Braves fell to the San Diego Padres by 9-1 on Sunday evening at Truist Park. That allowed San Diego to take a 2-0 lead in the rain-altered four game series between the teams.

The Padres scored three runs in the top of the first inning on a two-run homer by Jake Cronenworth and an RBI single by Jackson Merrill. They added four runs in the fourth on a two-run double from Fernando Tatis Jr., an RBI double by Jurickson Profar, and sac fly by Xander Bogaerts. Luis Campusano had a home run to lead off the fifth, and Ha-Seong Kim hit a solo homer during the seventh for the Padres. The Braves finally got on the board in the ninth on an RBI single by Ozzie Albies.

Bryce Elder was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up seven runs (six earned) and nine hits, walking three, and striking out three over just three innings. Yu Darvish got the win for San Diego after pitching seven scoreless innings en route to his 200th career victory between the US and Japan.

The Braves and the Padres will play a day-night double header today to finish the series and make up a game that was rained out this past Saturday.
