The observance of Severe Weather Preparedness Week continues in Georgia as this part of the state has been issued a Flash Flood Watch by the National Weather Service that will be in effect from this evening at 6 pm through this Friday morning at 7 am.
Severe Weather Preparedness Week is spearheaded each year by the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency in cooperation with the National Weather Service. It is a part of a nationwide initiative to prepare families to stay safe during severe weather, states Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency.
