The Atlanta Braves fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers by 5-1 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set in Los Angeles, CA. That allowed LA to sweep the series. It marked the first time that Atlanta has been swept this season.
Shohei Otani opened the scoring with a two-run homer for the Dodgers in the bottom of the first inning. Teoscar Hernandez added a two-run shot during the sixth. Marcell Ozuna got the Braves on the board with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. Ohtani clubbed another home run to begin the eighth inning.
Max Fried was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up four runs and four hits, walking three, and striking out seven through seven innings. James Paxton was the winning pitcher for LA.
Thus ends a six-game road trip out west that started for Atlanta in Seattle and resulted in just one win and five losses. The Braves are now in second place of the National League East with a record of 20-12 on the ’24 regular season. They are off today and will return to their home field at Truist Park in Atlanta on Tuesday evening to open a two-game set versus the Boston Red Sox. First pitch is slated for 7:20 pm.
