The Atlanta Braves beat the Seattle Mariners 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set in Seattle, WA. That allowed Atlanta to avoid being swept in the series.
The Braves scored the first run of the day on a bases-loaded walk to Marcell Ozuna in the top of the third inning. They added four more runs in the fourth on an RBI single from Ronald Acuna Jr., a two-run triple from Austin Riley, and an RBI single by Matt Olson.
Jorge Polanco drove in both of the Mariners’ runs on RBI singles in the fifth and seventh innings.
Chris Sale was Atlanta’s winning pitcher; he gave up just one run and six hits, walked none, and struck out nine over five innings. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Emerson Hancock took the loss for Seattle; just one of the five runs charged to Hancock was earned.
The Braves have a scheduled off-day today and will continue their six-game road trip out west on Friday night with the opener of a three-game set in Los Angeles, CA against the Dodgers. First pitch is slated for 10:10 pm Eastern. Tune into play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 8:55 pm.
