The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 6-5 on Tuesday night in game two of a four game set at Truist Park. That evened the National League East series up at a game each.
The Braves scored the first run of the night on a RBI double by Ozzie Albies in the bottom of the first inning. They notched three runs in the third on RBI singles by Austin Riley, Matt Olson, and Marcell Ozuna.
Riley contributed another RBI single in the fourth that allowed Ronald Acuna Jr. to reach home plate after a couple of stolen bases.
Acuna tallied a total of three runs scored and three stolen bases on the night. Albies grounded out to drive in another run in the sixth. The Mets got on the board during the eighth on a three run homer from Pete Alonso. They added two more runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Omar Narvaez and an RBI groundout by Starling Marte, but the Braves held on for the victory, again, by a final score of 6-5.
Reynaldo Lopez was the winning pitcher for Atlanta after giving up just three hits, walking three, and striking out six through six scoreless innings. Rasiel Iglesias picked up the save. Adrian Houser took the loss for New York.
The Braves will host the Mets again tonight at 7:20 pm. Listen locally on the airwaves of WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
