Rome Little Theatre’s Summer Academy returns this summer in a new, expanded format designed to challenge and inspire both novice and experienced young performers.
Running for two full weeks, young actors will have the opportunity to learn the complete production process from “page to stage”. Junior Company (Rising 2nd – 8th graders) will learn acting skills such as building a character through voice and movement, singing and dancing techniques, Each young performer will be cast in a role in “Willy Wonka, Jr.” Senior Company (Rising 9th through 12th graders) will focus on more advanced improvisation and scene-building, acting and characterization, technical theatre design and staging in order to produce the full one-act play “The Rules of Comedy” by Peter Bloedel.
At RLT, our goal is to provide a theatre education experience that fosters respect for self and for others and that kindles a lifelong love of the arts. RLT Academy staff are veteran actors, directors, choreographers and vocalists with over 145 years of combined experience teaching and performing locally and internationally.
Registration is open at romelittletheatre.com/academy. RLT Academy will run June 17- 28, 2024, 9am-2pm, Monday through Friday. Free performances will be held June 27 and 28.
