ARMUCHEE HIGH STUDENT SELECTED AS A STAMPS SCHOLAR TO MERCER UNIVERSITY

(Media release from Floyd County Schools, GA):

Armuchee High School senior and Salutatorian, Kaylee Nichols, has been selected as a Stamps Scholar to Mercer University.

Kaylee has been awarded a full scholarship through the Stamps Scholar Program to Mercer University, including full tuition and fees, room and board, an Apple iPad, and up to $16,000 in an enrichment stipend over four years.

“We are beyond thrilled for Armuchee High School Salutatorian, Kaylee Nichols, and this great accomplishment,” said AHS counselor, Jenni Stansell. “She is a phenomenal student and we look forward to following her as she furthers her education at Mercer University.”

Each year, less than 10 Mercer University applicants are selected to receive this scholarship, due to its highly competitive nature. Stamps Scholars demonstrate remarkable potential for leadership and academic achievement, and have been accepted to the University as first-year undergraduate students.

The Stamps Scholars Program’s purpose is enabling extraordinary educational experiences for extraordinary students. Through partnerships with institutions across the nation (and into the U.K.), Scholars receive annual awards that range from $6,000 to $90,000 (four-year awards total an average of $24,000-$360,000) with additional funds for enrichment activities such as study abroad, academic conferences, and leadership training. The Stamps Scholars Program and partner schools evenly share the costs of the awards.

“We are so very proud of Kaylee,” said Dr. Glenn White, FCS Superintendent. “This is an incredible honor for her, and she has a bright future ahead of her. Her hard work and dedication to her future and education is definitely paying off, and we can not wait to see her continue to excel. I would like to thank Mrs. Jenni Stansell (Armuchee High School Counselor) as well as the staff members and administration at Armuchee High School for their commitment in assisting Kaylee in this process.”
