On April 5th – just a month from today – the Rome Emperors will begin their 2024 season as hosts to the Hickory Crawdads at AdventHealth Stadium.
This will be a season of change for Rome’s minor league baseball team, the High A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Along with the team’s new name and new look, fans will also notice changes around the ballpark, like a new team store (where the Three Rivers Club once stood) and new concession options, enthuses Justin Franklin, Marketing and Media Relations Coordinator.
The team’s name change to the Emperors has been making waves throughout Braves Country since it was announced back in November. Ben Ingram, play by play announcer for the Atlanta Braves Radio Network, muses that it is definitely a unique name. He adds that minor league baseball has a penchant for unique team names.
This will mark the first season for the team to be called the Emperors after spending the first two decades in Rome, GA as the Braves.
