MODEL HIGH SCHOOL’S GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM OPENS GHSA PLAYOFFS WITH WIN, BOYS’ QUEST FOR A STATE TITLE BEGINS TONIGHT WITH BROADCAST COVERAGE FROM WLAQ

Model High School’s girls basketball team picked up a 67-37 victory at home over Therell on Tuesday night in the first round of the GHSA’s Class AA state playoffs. The Lady Blue Devils will now head to the Sweet 16 against Banks County on the road this weekend.

Tune into WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM tonight as the MHS boys basketball team begins its quest for a state title as host to Drew Charter. Tip off is slated for 6 pm at Model’s Woodard Gymnasium.

The Blue Devils head into this year’s state tournament as the No.1 seed from Region 7-AA, following a win over Rockmart in the region championship on Friday night, states WLAQ Sports’ Matt Davis.

Davis anticipates substantial contributions from many talented players in the state tourney.
