FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE CONTINUES EFFORTS TO REDUCE THE RATE OF RECIDIVISM VIA THE FREED PROGRAM

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office continues its effort to help inmates make the transition from the jail into the community via the FREED (or Floyd Re-Entry, Education, and Discharge) program.

Sheriff Dave Roberson attests that FREED is geared towards those who have committed smaller crimes. The goal is to reduce the local rate of recidivism (or repeat offenses).

There have been several success stories since the program began in late 2021, says Sheriff Roberson, who adds that the first graduate has successfully made the transition back into the community since her release over two years ago.
