WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM will be courtside again this evening for Model High School basketball. Model will wrap up the 2023-2024 regular season on their home court as hosts to Rockmart. Tip off is scheduled for 6 pm for the girls, 7:30 pm for the boys. Matt Davis and Ian Griffin will have the play by play story and will go on air at 5:45 pm.
The Lady Blue Devils head into their regular season finale with a record of 20-4 overall and 10-1 in Region 7-AA. They remain tied with Murray County atop the region standings. It may come down to a coin flip to determine who will host the region tournament, asserts WLAQ Sports’ Matt Davis.
Davis also congratulates the Lady Blue Devils’ head coach Sally Echols on reaching a milestone 400th career win this past Friday night when the Model girls beat Gordon Central on the road.
Model’s Blue Devils are alone at the top of the Region 7-AA boys standings with a record of 17-7 and 10-1. They aim for their 12th straight win tonight, enthuses Davis.
