A DAY FULL OF HOLIDAY CHEER IN STORE FOR VISITORS TO THE RINK AT RIDGE FERRY PARK ON SATURDAY WITH THE ’23 CANDY CANE HUNT AND PLAYTIME WITH SANTA

A day full of holiday cheer is in store for visitors to The Rink at Ridge Ferry Park this Saturday, December 16th, courtesy of Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.

The fun will begin at noon with the 2023 edition of the Candy Cane Hunt, which has been moved from the Town Green in downtown Rome to an area near the ice skating rink for this year, says Jim Alred, Recreation Services Manager. It is free for youngsters to participate in the hunt.

Playtime with Santa will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm. The first 400 kids ages 12 and under will get a free soccer ball, football, or basketball. Santa Claus will, of course, be at that event, as well as at the Candy Cane Hunt, enthuses Alred.

There is a limit of one ball per child at Playtime with Santa, which is a first-come, first-served event which will end when each of the balls have been distributed.

Alred encourages attendees of these events to also enjoy some ice skating at The Rink at Ridge Ferry Park. Admission to skate is $12 for children ages 10 and under and $14 for adults.

The rink will open on Saturday at 11 am and will remain open through 9 pm, adds Alred.
