RONALD ACUNA JR MAKES HISTORY IN ATLANTA BRAVES’ EXTRA INNING VICTORY OVER CHICAGO CUBS

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Chicago Cubs by a final score of 6-5 over 10 innings on Wednesday night in the middle outing of a three-game set at Truist Park. That allowed the Braves to take a 2-0 lead in the series and grab home-field advantage through the National League Championship Series for the ’23 MLB post-season.

Atlanta got on the board with a solo home run by Ozzie Albies in the bottom of the first inning. Chicago surged ahead with a run in the top of the second and two more in the third. The Braves scored runs in the seventh and eighth to tie the game at 3-3. The Cubs broke that tie during the top of the ninth, but Marcell Ozuna hit a home run for the Braves which resulted in a 4-4 tie in the bottom of that inning. Chicago took a 5-4 lead with one run in the top of the 10th, then Atlanta tied it up again with an RBI single from Ronald Acuna Jr. in the bottom of that inning. He went on to steal second base and make history as the first MLB player with at least 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases during a single season. Acuna scored the winning run for the Braves on a walk-off single by Albies.

Jesse Chavez was credited with the win for Atlanta. Daniel Palencia took the loss for Chicago.
