The Atlanta Braves concluded a nine-game homestand with a shutout victory over the New York Mets by 7-0 on Wednesday evening in the last meeting of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. Atlanta took that series by 2-0 and went 7-2 on their homestand.
Marcell Ozuna got the home team on the board with an RBI single during the bottom of the first inning. The Braves scored four runs during the sixth on an RBI double from Ozuna, an RBI single by Sean Murphy, and a two-run triple from Vaughn Grissom. Ozuna added a two-run homer in the seventh. Charlie Morton was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He surrendered just two hits, walked one, and struck out 11 in seven scoreless innings. Jose Quintana was charged with the loss for New York.
The NL East-leading Braves improved their MLB-best record to 82-44 on the 2023 regular season. They are off tonight and will begin a 10-game road trip over the weekend with three matches out in San Francisco, California against the Giants.
