The Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park, which allowed Atlanta to sweep the series.
The Brewers scored a run on a wild pitch in the top of the first. Austin Riley put the Braves ahead with a two-run homer during the bottom of that inning. Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead in top of the third with a lead-off home run from Christian Yelich and a solo shot by Carlos Santana. Matt Olson had a three-run homer to give Atlanta a 5-3 lead in the bottom of that inning.
The Brewers scored three runs in the sixth on a ground out by Yelich and two run double by William Contreras to take a 6-5 lead. Marcell Ozuna hit a solo home run in the bottom of that inning to tie the game at 6-6. Olson delivered the tiebreaker, a two run shot during the eighth. Ben Ingram has that call.
Kirby Yates picked up the win in relief for Atlanta, while Raisel Iglesias got the save. Joel Payamps took the loss for Milwaukee.
The National League East-leading Braves improved their MLB-best record to 67-36 on the 2023 regular season. They will open a three-game series versus the Los Angeles Angels tonight at Truist Park.
