ATLANTA BRAVES SNAP LOSING SKID WITH WIN OVER ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS, ONWARD TO MILWAUKEE FOR WEEKEND SET AGAINST THE BREWERS

The Atlanta Braves ended a four-game losing skid with a 7-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park.

Orlando Arcia got the Braves on the board with a solo home run during the bottom of the sixth inning. The Diamondbacks took a 4-1 lead in top of the seventh with a three-run homer from Dominic Canzone, followed by a solo shot from Emmanuel Rivera. Matt Olson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of that inning that made it 4-3. Corbin Carroll had a solo shot for Arizona in the top of the eighth. Austin Riley hit a three-run homer in the bottom of that inning that put Atlanta ahead by 6-5. Olson followed that with another home run.

Starting pitcher Spencer Strider gave up four runs and four hits, walked one, and struck out 13 over six innings. Kirby Yates was credited with the win in relief, while Rasiel Iglesias got the save. Miguel Castro was charged with the loss for Arizona.

The National League East-leading Braves improved their MLB-best record to 62-33 on the 2023 regular season. They will be up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin over the weekend for a three-game set against the Brewers. First pitch of this evening’s series opener is scheduled for 8:10 pm.
