ATLANTA BRAVES CONCLUDE WEEKEND SERIES IN CINCINNATI WITH WIN OVER REDS

The Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-6 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, OH. That allowed Atlanta to take the series by 2-1.

The Braves grabbed an early lead with three runs during the top of the third inning on a sac fly by Ozzie Albies and RBI singles from Sean Murphy and Marcell Ozuna. The Reds got on the board in the bottom of that inning with an RBI double by Spencer Steer and tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run double by Matt McLain. Matt Olson delivered the tie-breaker in favor of Atlanta with a three-run homer during the top of the sixth.

McLain had a solo home run in the seventh and a two-run double during the eighth for the Reds. The Braves notched another run as Ozzie Albies reached home plate on a walk by Marcell Ozuna in the eighth and went on to win the game, again, by a final score of 7-6.

Charlie Morton was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He surrendered three runs and seven hits, walked three, and struck out seven in five innings. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Randall Wynne took the loss for Cincinnati.
