The Atlanta Braves beat the Oakland Athletics 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set in Oakland, California. That allowed Atlanta to avoid being swept in the series.
Ozzie Albies got the Braves on the board with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning.
Orlando Arcia also reached home plate in that inning when Austin Riley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 3-0 in favor of Atlanta.
The A’s scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from Ramon Laureano and a ground out by Carlos Perez.
Ronald Acuna Jr drove in a run in the top of the seventh, and the Braves went on to claim the victory, again, by a final score of 4-2.
Jared Shuster was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up two runs and three hits, walked four, and struck out one through five and a third innings. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. James Kaprielian was charged with the loss for Oakland.
The National League East-leading Braves are now 33-23 on the 2023 regular season. They are off today and will continue their current six-game road trip on Friday night with the first of three games out in Phoenix, Arizona against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
