The 2019 property taxes for Floyd County and the City of Rome are due by today at 5 pm.
According to a Floyd County media release, all taxes may be paid in the Tax Commissioner’s Office at the Historic Courthouse, 4 Government Plaza; via mail at PO Box 26, Rome, GA 30162; or at www.floydcountytax.com. Taxes may be paid with cash, check, credit or debit cards.
There is a drop box in the courthouse parking lot located across from the new courthouse entrance. Another is located in the courthouse hallway.
All credit or debit card transactions, either online or in the tax office, will be charged a transaction fee.
The Tax Commissioner’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
In order for payments to be received before the deadline, they must be paid in the office before 5 pm today or postmarked by the USPS by today’s date. All payments received after today will be assessed interest charges.
Partial payments will be accepted and are encouraged for those unable to pay their entire bill by today.
The Tax Commissioner’s Office anticipates collection of approximately $85 million in property taxes on behalf of the State of Georgia, the City of Rome, Floyd County and the Rome City and Floyd County school systems. Property taxes are one of the primary sources of revenue for local governments. Most of the tax money will remain in Floyd County.
