ATLANTA BRAVES DENIED A SERIES SWEEP IN ARIZONA WITH SUNDAY LOSS TO DIAMONDBACKS, ROME EMPERORS DROP FINALE BUT TAKE SERIES IN WINSTON-SALEM, NC VERSUS THE DASH

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks by a final score of 6-4 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ. That denied a series sweep for the Braves, who also saw their latest winning streak end at three straight games. The Diamondbacks snapped a four-game losing skid.

Arizona had 4-1 lead as the game headed into the seventh. Atlanta etched away at that lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Nick Allen and Alex Verdugo. However, the D’backs scored two more on an RBI double by Josh Naylor in the bottom of that inning. Marcell Ozuna had an RBI double during the top of the ninth, but the Braves fell to the D’backs.

Spencer Schwellenbach was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up four runs (three earned) and seven hits, walking one, and striking out six over six innings. Brandon Pfaadt was credited with the win and Justin Martinez got the save for Arizona.

The Rome Emperors fell to the Winston-Salem Dash by 4-1 on Sunday in the finale of a six-game set in Winston Salem, NC. The Emperors took the series by 4-2. They are off today and will be back on their home field to begin a six game set versus the Hub City Spartanburgers on Tuesday night.
