Big things are happening at Rome Aerials Gymnastics. Leilynn Barden, Rylee Turner, Rylee Bowen, Taylin Lytle, and Emma Slocum are set to represent their gym at the upcoming 2025 Region 8 Xcel Regional Championships, taking place May 2-4 at the LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia. These talented gymnasts, coached by Missy George and Annika Schuttinga, will compete in the Xcel Gold and Xcel Platinum divisions, joining more than 1,500 athletes from across eight states in one of the region’s most anticipated gymnastics events.
The team is especially proud of Rylee Bowen, who recently finished sixth in the state and earned a coveted spot on the Georgia State Team. Bowen’s achievement means she will not only compete individually but will also contribute as a team member representing Georgia in the regional competition.
With excitement building, the girls are intensifying their training in preparation for the championship weekend. The event at LakePoint Sports—a premier, state-of-the-art facility known for hosting major youth sporting events—will feature gymnasts in the Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire divisions. The team looks forward to a memorable and successful weekend, aiming to showcase their hard work and dedication on the regional stage.
