STATE LAWMAKERS AWAIT THE FATE OF LEGISLATION PASSED DURING THE 2025 SESSION

State Representative Katie Dempsey of Rome was relieved to return home upon the conclusion of the Georgia General Assembly’s 2025 session earlier this month.

April 4th was Sine Die – or the end of the session. Dempsey, who represents the 13th District in the Georgia House of Representatives, says that Governor Brian Kemp now has until mid-May to sign or ignore and allow legislation to become law, or to veto bills.

Dempsey anticipates that lawmakers will continue to champion into next year any legislation that is not signed by the Governor this year.

According to data from the House Budget and Research Committee, a total of 1,926 House bills and resolutions were introduced during the 2025 session.
