The Atlanta Braves finished a six-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the last outing of a three-game set at Truist Park. The Braves took the series by 2-1 and went 5-1 during the homestand.
Nolan Arenado put the Cardinals on the board first with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. The Braves tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single by Michael Harris II in the bottom of the seventh, and then took the lead with a three-run homer by Eli White in the eighth.
Daysbel Hernandez was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. Jojo Romero was charged with the loss for St. Louis.
The Braves have a scheduled off-day for today and will open a six-game road trip out west this Friday night with the opener of a three-game set in Phoenix, AZ against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rome Emperors defeated the Winston-Salem Dash by 2-1 on Wednesday night in the second meeting of a six-game set up in Winston-Salem, NC. It was Rome’s fifth victory in a row. The teams will meet again this evening at 6:30 pm.
