ATLANTA BRAVES’ FIRST WINNING STREAK OF THE ’25 REGULAR SEASON ENDS WITH TUESDAY NIGHT LOSS TO ST. LOUIS, ROME EMPERORS OPEN ROAD TRIP WITH WIN IN WINSTON-SALEM, NC

The Atlanta Braves fell to the St. Louis Cardinals by 10-4 on Tuesday night in the second meeting of a three-game set at Truist Park. It brought Atlanta’s first winning streak of the year to an end at four straight and marked the end of a five-game losing streak for St. Louis.

Lars Nootbar had a two-run homer that got the Cardinals on the board during the top of the third inning. Sean Murphy got the Braves on the board with a home run during the bottom of the fourth. Alex Verdugo had a game-tying RBI double and later scored on an error to put the Braves ahead in that inning. Matt Olson homered to begin the bottom of the fifth. However, the Cards tied the game at 4-4 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. They took the lead during the eighth on a three-run double from Nolan Gorman and added three more runs in the ninth.

Enyel De Los Santos was charged with the loss. Atlanta turned to the bullpen because Spencer Strider went on the injured list. Steven Matz got the win for St. Louis.

The Braves will finish their current six-game homestand with the series finale versus the Cardinals this afternoon at 12:15 pm. Fans may listen to play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 11 am.

The Rome Emperors defeated the Winston Salem Dash by 8-2 on Tuesday in the opener of a six-game set at Winston Salem, NC. That was Rome’s fourth straight win. The teams will meet again this evening at 6:30 pm.
