The Atlanta Braves beat the Minnesota Twins by 6-2 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game weekend set at Truist Park. It allowed the Braves to secure their first series sweep of the 2025 regular season.
Matt Olson got Atlanta on the board with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Austin Riley contributed an RBI single in the second. Drake Baldwin clubbed a two-run shot during the third, and Marcell Ozuna added a home run to begin the fifth.
The Twins scored their two runs on a wild pitch in the fourth and a home run by Byron Buxton to lead off the seventh.
Grant Holmes was credited with the win for Atlanta after giving up just one run and four hits, walking four, and striking out seven over five and two-third innings of work. Joe Ryan was charged with the loss for Minnesota.
The Braves aim to continue their first winning streak of the year tonight as they play hosts to the St. Louis Cardinals in the first meeting of a three-game series. The Rome Emperors wrapped up their first homestand of the year with an 8-7 victory over the Asheville Tourists on Sunday at AdventHealth Stadium. The Emperors went 4-2 during the homestand. They are off today and will return to action on Tuesday night in Winston-Salem, NC with the first of six games versus the Dash.
Gavin Booker, play-by-play announcer for the Emperors on MiLB.tv, invites fans to see baseball’s future stars in action during the 2025 season. The road to Atlanta includes a stop in Rome, as it did for Drake Baldwin in 2023.
Baldwin has homered twice so far this season for Atlanta to include his two-run shot in Sunday’s game.
Rome will be back home on Tuesday, April 29th to open a six-game set versus the Hub City Spartanburgers.
