The Atlanta Braves concluded a six-game road trip with a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays by 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set in Toronto, CA. That allowed Toronto to take the series 2-1.
Spencer Strider returned from elbow surgery to the mound for Atlanta for the first time in over a year and notched his 500th career strikeout during the fifth.
Unfortunately, he took the loss after giving up two runs and five hits, walking one, and striking out five over five innings.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. drove in both of those runs versus Strider with an RBI single in the third and a home run in sixth. Bo Bichette hit an RBI double for the Blue Jays in the seventh.
Drake Baldwin homered to drive in the Braves’ lone run of the day in the top of the ninth, his first home run in the majors.
Chris Bassitt was credited with the win and Jeff Hoffman picked up the save for Toronto.
The Braves went 2-4 during their road trip which started last weekend with a three game set against the Tampa Bay Rays. They are off tonight and will be back at Truist Park in Atlanta on Friday night to begin a six-game homestand with the first of three games versus the Minnesota Twins. First pitch is slated for 7:15 pm. Listen to play-by-play coverage on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.
